Another cookbook

Sticky, chewy messy gooey is my new cookbook and it is pure indulgence. There are some recipes I really want to try such as chocolate soup with cinnamon cake croutons. It is proper comfort food. I can't wait to try some of these recipes.Just look at the cover. This really contradicts the saying don't judge a book by its cover!

cupcake decorating

So I have been wanting to go to a cupcake class for a long time. I finally found one I liked the look of. I found it on a facebook group. Its run by marianne and it take place in the stafford hotel. The venue is great and the class was so much fun. You learn swirl techniques and get all these edible glitter, chocolates and sugar craft to decorate with. The final result was too good to eat. I was so bad and kept eating the icing because it was cream cheese icing with vanilla pods. You get all the tea and coffee you want when you go and the class is a very good price at £25 considering that a lot of cupcake decorating classes are £100. Marianne the teacher is a pastry chef at baker and spice and trained at Cordon Bleu so she fully qualified and she is so nice.Heres the link to mariannes webside.

This is some of the cupcakes I made

A konditor and cook wedding cake

I went to a wedding last week and the wedding cake was a Konditor and cook cake. It was so tasty. I had 3 pieces. It all had delicious cream cheese icing. I did feel sick after having all that cake. But i thought I would show you how a non traditional wedding cake looks like.

New cookbook

I got the Hope and Greenwood cookbook because Ive always wanted to be able to make my own sweets. I would like to start off with the easier sweets and then go on to the more complicated ones. I think the book is very cute and the recipes in the book would make great gifts. One criticism is I would of liked more sugarcraft such as sweetie mice etc.But ill have to try the recipes to see if they are any good.

Noma tops the best restaurants

S..Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants has a new winner and that is Noma. El bulli has been winning the last few years but Im so glad Noma has the number one spot. Noma is a restaurant in Denmark that has been shown on masterchef before. I want to take a trip to denmark just to go here. The presentation of the food is amazing and the work that goes into it is perfection. I want to go here because you don't really hear about scandinavian food. Luckily the unsung hero is becoming popular with jamie does doing dishes from stockholm. Also going to Noma is a great excuse to go to Denmark and have some delicious danish pastries.

Lolas kitchen

I always wanted to go to Lolas cupcakes. I finally went with my sister. I went to the one in selfridges and it did not disappoint. The decor is like something from candyland. I felt like a kid again. It was so hard to choose which cupcake to buy. My sister and I shared a oreo one and a chocolate and vanilla cupcake. It was so good with a cup of tea. Ive been told to try their hot chocolates as well. So if you need a sugar rush then go to Lolas. Ive got to say Buttercup bake shop is still my fave though.
I wish I lived in america because look at all the flavours they have there. I am so jealous. They need to bring some of the flavours here. I do have the Ben and Jerrys cookbook so I may have to try some of the recipes.

Ben and Jerry day

So yesterday was the annual free scoop ben and jerry day. I went too late to get my free scoop but I did buy a scoop of their new flavour fairy nuts in the leicester square Ben and Jerrys. It was a nice sunny day so it was perfect to eat outside. I have always loved the cereal nestle clusters so I knew I would like this ice cream and I did. Its caramel ice cream with praline almond clusters and caramel swirls. Its like eating a pecan pie. If you love hagaan daz pralines and cream then you will love this ice cream.

Butlers chocolate

Another westfield stop. craving something sweet well head to irish chocolate company Butlers. well this is the place to go. I had a chocolaty iced drink which was good.plus it comes with a truffle. Since I had just had a burger I didn't want to go for something hot. I needed a refreshing cold drink so iced chocolate drink was perfect.I would like to try the hot chocolate next time. I would also like to try more of the chocolates because they looked good. The drink was 3.20 so its similar to a starbucks frappicino but the difference being the taste of the quality chocolate.

Byron Burger

Ok your in westfield and been shopping or getting lost. So now your really hungry. I know I wanted meat and lots of carbs so I went to Byron burger. I don't know whether I am saying this because I was so hungry or because it actually was but lets just say the burger was amazing. I got it cooked my usual medium rare and went for the one with the byron sauce. It was good. The place is quite contemporary and has model cows in the front. It has lots of american favourites like milkshakes. If your in weastfield its a great place to go for a quick bite to eat.Two things i didn't like about this place is the french fries had to be bought seperatly and the french fries were a bit too salty.

My mum got me a box in the weekend and im having a little each day. It also came with baklavas which I love too. I got my indian sweets from Nirala but usually i get them from Ambala. You can find most of these shops in the east london area such as Ilford.

More frozen yogurt

Ok yesterday after work I went to Yu-foria in covent garden. Its a frozen yogurt place. The decor inside was really cool with wood blocks to sit on and swinging bamboo chairs. Theres all these grass and it looks ultra cool. The staff were really nice and very helpful letting us sample each flavour so we could have the one we liked. I ended up going for a waffle with a mixture of chocolate and plain yogurt with oreos, crunchy nut cruncies and fudge. I wish I had opted for chocolate sauce instead of fudge pieces because I felt that the waffle was slightly dry. All in all it did taste good and I loved the variety of toppings and the idea of having it with waffles. I will definetly be going here again.

Let down

So I saw these gourmet american cookies in Harrods called Byrd gourmet cookies. It was birthday cake flavour ones and came in a really cute ceramic cupcake shaped jar which I thought would be perfect as a sugar jar (since I broke the cupcake sugar jar my mum got me by accident). Since its quite pricey at 7.95 I had high expectations including the fact that its from harrods. I was totally disappointed. Firstly there was a small amount of cookies. Secondly it did not taste very good. They tasted very dry and I couldnt even have another after it. The flavours were not good. I had to have a cadburys chocolate digestive to cover the taste of it. All in all I will not be buying these cookies again but I am happy with the cupcake jar,

I love Mascarpone

I love adding mascarpone into dishes. It gives it more flavour and makes it really creamy. So I tried the waitrose recipe of carbonara but instead of adding cream I added mascarpone and I think it made the carbonara so much better. You should definetly try this. Here is a link to the Waitrose recipe.

London review cake shop

So Ive always loved the idea of a coffee shop in a book shop which is usually starbucks in borders or costas in waterstone so it was refreshing to see an independent one. Its near holborn station. Its a cute little place that you can go and look at books and then go and have cake and tea. They sell a wide range of teas including jing and mariage freres. They have a variety of cakes too. I shared a orange marmalade cake which was syrupy and delicious as well as a passionfruit carrot cake with walnuts. I was a bit unsure whether I would like the passionfruit cake but I did. It was a great treat with a cup of tea. I would definetly say you should go there because its different and its even great to go alone and read. They have a range of sweet and savory snacks so you wouldn't go hungry. I really like the atmosphere and its a great way to relax after work or go to for your lunch break to get away from the busy life of work.
